With the new year comes new developments with GFAF. For starters we are in the process of changing our official name to the Galaxy Far Away Foundation, so you will start to see more "foundation" and less "fest". This does not mean the fest is dead, we just wanted to make the distinction so it makes more sense to everyone. Same great GFAF taste, new look!
With the loss of the Empire Ale House in November, GFAF has been working on moving our base of events and trivia. You will be slowly seeing more of our events pop up as 2019 progresses and we test the waters at different locations. To start with, we are continuing our Harry Potter trivia series with Book/ Movie 4: Goblet of fire on Feb 4th at the Skagit River Brewery!

In 2019 GFAF will also be ramping up our IG account @Galaxy_Far_Away_Fest, so be sure to follow us to watch our journey!
We have many other things in store for 2019 as well as the first updates for the 2019 fest proper so stay tuned and watch the stars!

Greetings Spacers, and welcome to 2017! Galaxy Far Away Fest has been very busy over the last few months. On what, you might ask? Well, let's start with trivia, Themed Trivia at that! Now, every 1st monday GFAF is hosting Themed Trivia at the Empire Alehouse, in Mt Vernon Washington. The next installment is on Feb 6th and the theme is… 90’s! Time to brush up on the music, tv, movies, fashion, and culture of Generation Grunge. Want more? Well, GFAF will also be bringing out a N64 with all the fixings and there will be some classic 90’s games in rotation for free play. But that's not all, there will also be POGs setup for free play all night too! Top that all off with some killer nerd swag available for sale and prizes, food and drink specials and you have the makings for one Phat night! Dress up in 90’s theme attire and your team gets bonus points for trivia, not to mention you will look da bomb!
You can look forward to other themes like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Adult Swim and so much more in the coming months. Other than trivia you can expect us to be hosting some other cool events in the coming months, like our show Feb 25th at the Make.Shift in Bellingham WA, featuring Whiskey Fever and BF Knowhere! Stay tuned to our Blogs and FB for more information on all these happenings. Not to mention details on the coming Galaxy Far Away Fest…..
That’s right; it’s time again for our monthly update on all things GFAF!
From now until the fest we’re going to be doing periodic band profiles on all of the awesome bands that are going to be playing at #GFAF2016!
This month our profile is on the self-described "Rocky-tonk / Acousta-billy" Whiskey Fever! They're going to be rocking the title-mentioned GFAF PREFUNK! This friday night (click the PREFUNK hyperlink for event info and full line-up), and you'll be able to catch Jack Mattingly of Whiskey Fever with Bad Chuck at GFAF.
Whiskey Fever is a fantastic band to start these profiles off with!
They describe themselves as hillbilly, but sound very much like if "The Presidents Of The United States Of America" were dipped in a vat of southern charm. Even though these guys are from Sedro, they are alternative, raunchy and sure to put on an amazing set! And if you can't make the Prefunk, make sure to check out their full length album available on itunes "Gonna Wake Up This Whole Town"
Check them out on facebook
On ReverbNation (for a great set of featured songs)
Or if you're feeling lazy just check out one of these embedded videos!
That’s right guys! We’re doing a Cosplay contest! Are you excited? Foaming at the mouth? No? Ok, good…we’re not either I swear.
So the Rules to this are pretty basic, all we need from you to enter is to post a picture of yourself in your best sci-fi cosplay to the GFAF facebook page with a sign that says GFAF 2016, share it from the page and hashtag it #GFAF2016 – That’s it! Pretty easy right?
The contest will stay open until June at which point a panel of GFAF staff will pick the best entries who will all receive:
If you have any further questions please post them either here or on the GFAF Facebook page and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
Good luck and may the force be with you!

Locking down bands for our explosive lineup such as Hard Money Saints , Death Star and Off Side On to join our already phenomenal lineup including; A Lien Nation, Anu, 5Rings, Bad Chuck, Pill Brigade, Mr. Pickles and so much more!
Our band line-up is coming together, but you know what else we need? YOU!
For the first time ever GFAF is going to be doing a cosplay contest to fill up our human chess board! What does that mean for you? In the coming week we’ll be officially announcing the contest and giving you a chance to WIN your way into the fest-just for looking awesome! Our selected winners will receive free entry and camping to the fest just for showing up in cosplay and being the royal families in our chess boards! (Full duties will be announced next week; just expect to lose a hand in an unfortunate lightsaber battle.)
Starting next week all you have to do to enter is to post a pic in your best fantasy cosplay (this should be easy as sakuracon will be just ending) with a sign that says #GFAF2016 to the GFAF Facebook Page and share it!

GFAF is going to be bigger and better than ever this year and you know what that means? More opportunities for volunteers, vendors, games and general shenanigans!
