- What's this all about? We at GFAF are, at our core, nerds first and foremost. We have a wide range of music and activities, and it's all geared towards us letting the inner nerd out. This is not a genre specific event so there is something for almost everyone and if you are not digging the scene, there will be a new act up shortly and other things to enjoy.
- This is a cosplay heavily recommended event! You are not required to dress up and lots of people won't, but wouldn't you rather be one of the fun people and "dress up to get down"? Cosplay contests for adults and kids as well so try to win something while at it.
- What do we mean by 'Sci-Fi themed'? Exactly that! We take inspiration from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Tron, Rick and Morty, Dr. Who, Star Trek, steampunk, and so many more to list! You will see some costumes, art installations, art, music and activities that pull from those inspirations.
- You can buy tickets at the gate while supplies last.
- Parking is $5 per vehicle. No in-and-outs.
- Is this really an all ages event? - Yes it is. GFAF has things for every age, however, that also means there are things for adults as well. Many attractions will go to the 'Dark Side' around dusk and become adults only, for the safety and enjoyment of all our patrons.
- There will be food and coffee vendors! You can bring your own food as well as enjoy food from our local vendors!
- There will be craft and oddity vendors!
- Some vendors may accept cards, however there is no guarantee so cash is the best option.
- There will be no onsite ATM however the GFAF Info/ Merch booth will offer a cash back option so you can get more cash if you need during the weekend. It is still a great idea to bring cash for food, vendors, beer garden and beyond, just to be safe.
- Can I bring in my own alcohol? - We have a Cantina, that will be serving craft beer, wine, mimosas and more, so why would you want to? That being said, there is no open containers allowed in the festival areas. What you keep in your tent is your business. NO GLASS WHATSOEVER ALLOWED ON THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS!. This should be common sense at a festival and will be enforced.
- There will be lots of shade from trees and structures, but please bring sun screen for when not in the shade areas.
- Camping gear: tent, bedding, chairs, propane bbq (burn ban might include briquets so propane is prefered), coolers, food, water, beverages...
- Water. There will be FREE water stations but it's always a good idea to bring lots of water. NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES PLEASE! They are very bad for the environment and a HUGE WASTE OF WATER to create the plastic bottle. We offer FREE WATER so please just bring your reusable bottle and/ or bulk jugs.
- Cash. Vendors may accept cards or be cash only. The GFAF Info/ Merch booth will also offer cash back so you will be able to get cash if you need more, for a small fee.
- Telescopes! This is after all, GALAXY FAR AWAY FEST! Join us as we gaze at the sky and feel humbled by our place in the cosmos.
- Drums and acoustic guitars. There will be open mic times on stage as well as jam sessions throughout the weekend and festival grounds.
- Feel free to bring out your poi, hoops or other flow items. Please leave the fire at home, sorry but the burn ban will more than likely be on.
- Sunscreen and pop up shade
- Mosquito repellent
- Sonic Screwdriver. What wouldn't you need it for?
Things Not to bring:
- No glass of any kind allowed.
- No tiki torches. Sorry it's the dry season and the burn ban is on.
- No illegal drugs allowed.
- No bullies allowed. For real, this is an all inclusive event. The only people not welcome are bullies.
- No dogs allowed. Sorry, you will have to leave your fur babies at home. Again, this should be common sense for a festival. Cats, iguanas Mogs and turtles OK if on a leash and you clean up after them.
- NO DRONES WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM TOBY TACKETT. Email him at gfaftoby@gmail.com if you would like to bring yours.
- No Droids. We don't serve their kind here.
